Volunteer Opportunities

HERC offers a variety of workshops:
FOR INTERNS

Our Women’s Health in the Point Project (WHIPP ) is designed to reduce the prevalence of breast and cervical cancer among women residing in the Bayview Hunters Point district of San Francisco. WHIPP trains interns through monthly BSE Workshops geared toward early detection of cancer

Each 5-hour BSE Workshop is taught over two sessions, usually on Saturdays. The workshops encourage women to appreciate and engage in:

  • Learning the American Cancer Society (ACS) breast cancer detection guidelines
  • Early detection practices
  • Practicing breast self-examination (BSE) confidently and  competently
